Participants will be introduced to the 8 month Healthy Challenge program provided by an ODL Health Literacy Grant, Purcell Library and community partners. Registration required.
Introduction to the Healthy Challenge session will be led by two library staff members certified as consumer health information specialists on the basic guidelines for communicating with their health care providers. Participants will learn the three questions they should always ask their doctors and will discuss the variety of health care professionals they work with beyond their primary care physician. In addition, participants will learn simple resistance band exercises that can help gain strength and flexibility.
Challenges for this month will be: practicing resistance band exercises learned in program; walking 10,000 steps -3 days a week; sharing information learned at this session with a friend or family; checking out a fitness dvd or health book from the collection.
Space is limited and registration is required.
