2025 is the 20th anniversary of Crowns Tea, a community event inspired by the book "Crowns: Portraits of Black Women in Church Hats" by Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry.

The Crowns Tea emphasizes the rich traditions of literature, music, and culture in observance of Black History Month. This event is open to all ages and will include a reading from the book Crowns, a discussion of the culinary art of soul food, demonstrations, and refreshments. Following a set program, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy additional activities including taking portraits, watching a cooking demonstration, and some 20th anniversary crafts. Attendees are invited to wear a hat to celebrate the 20th year of this beloved community tradition!
