The Thunder Bus will be rolling into the Blanchard library parking lot bringing free books to kids to foster literacy, encourage reading and ignite a lifelong love of books. Ages Kindergarten-5th.
The Rolling Thunder Book Bus is used to promote literacy and develop a love of reading. It is fully accessible to everyone and includes an ADA compliant ramp. The interior features a replica locker with a jersey, players’ basketball shoes and a basketball. The improved bus also contains a technology station, which can be used for video conferencing with Thunder players or virtual learning opportunities. Over 230,000 free books have been distributed since 2009.
Presented by American Fidelity Assurance Company, this statewide outreach program brings over 2,000 books, Thunder swag, and fun surprises to inspire young readers.
Be sure and register for our Beanstack Summer Learning Challenge to track your reading and activities for books and prizes.
Each of the children (Kindergarten-5th grade) will have the opportunity to go aboard the Bus and select a free book to take home!
The Thunder Bus will arrive at approximately 30 minutes before the visit to set up and will need a space to park with high profile clearance as we have a truck and trailer.
