It's a "book club" for movies! Love films and want to talk about them? We'll bring the snacks, you bring the conversation. *Movies are viewed at home prior to the meeting unless otherwise noted.*
What makes a movie a classic and when does it become one? What makes a movie "good"? And what about those Oscar nominees and winners-do they deserve the hype? We'd love to hear your thoughts on these questions or any topics related to our selected feature that the group wants to discuss.
We're kick-starting the PLS Movie Club on April 22nd with the theme of "screwball/romantic comedy," in particular It Happened One Night starring Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable. This 1934 comedy classic remains one of the few films in Oscar history to sweep all major Academy categories, including Best Picture.
It Happened One Night is available to checkout on DVD with your library card and is also available for free at Tubi.com for a limited time. If you don't get a chance to view it Happened One Night, feel free to watch your favorite romantic screwball comedy and be ready to discuss. Tubi is a free movie website/streaming app not affiliated with the library. All films discussed with PLS Movie Club will be available for through Pioneer Library System using your library card or on free websites/streaming apps. No charge will be required for this program or to view the films we discuss.
Event date and time: Tuesday April 22nd, 7pm-8pm in the Pioneer Library System.
When you arrive at Norman West, please use the left side, administration doors and ring the bell. Staff will let you in. Please call us at 405-701-2644 if you have any questions regarding this program.
This program is intended for teens and adults. Registration is required.
