This interactive workshop teaches caregivers how to communicate more effectively with health care professionals, enabling participants to advocate on behalf of a friend or family member in their care.
This interactive workshop consists of teaching older adults and caregivers how to communicate more effectively with healthcare professionals. Participants will then be able to advocate on behalf of the friend, family member, or themselves in their care. You will gain information on the benefits and challenges of the medical system along with learning the “team” approach to providing overall care. These skills are needed for a more positive interaction between older adults, caregivers and the health care system.
This class is presented by the Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative (OHAI), and is funded by a Health Literacy Grant proviede by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries (ODL) and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
