John McGaha, is a professional multi-instrumentalist, music composer, and producer with 40 years’ experience. His library program consists of a presentation and Q&A session followed by an invitation to play an instrument.  He’ll bring instruments to explore—which could be a mandolin, violin, guitar, penny whistles/recorders, and one or two exotic instruments as well such as a Guzheng or an Oud. John and Leah Kenton-McGaha have performed at Big Read and PLS Foundation events, as well as programs at Tecumseh, Norman West, and Norman Central libraries. John has been described as having “a sincere love of his craft, and an understanding of music that is seldom paralleled”. –Modern Bard.

What’s in it for you? . . .

  • You will meet, and hear the music of, a professional musician who is also a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer.
  • You will be able to pick up and play several different instruments at the program.
  • You will be able to get answers about how to get started in music from someone with experience.

Summer Learning at Pioneer is possible with the support of Oklahoma Department of Libraries, Institute of Museum and Library Services, Hitachi Computer Products of America, The Anne & Henry Zarrow Foundation, Sonic, America’s Drive-In, Pioneer Library System Foundation, and the Friends of the Libraries.
