Food, fun and culture!
Join the Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library for a taste of Native American culture with Jay Mule, a member of the Choctaw Nation, and Steven Looney from the Chickasaw Nation as they share the history of their tribes.
Participants will join Jay for a game of Stickball and a traditional Choctaw Dance. Jay is committed to perserving the Choctaw culture, and wishes to pass on knowledge, songs and customs of the Choctaw people.
Steven will demonstrate how to make Paska Hohshonti, or cloud bread, and Hayi Abuske, a black corn drink. He'll discuss the Chickasaw's efforts to revive dying vegetation tribes used before European contact.
