The Norman Area Quilters Guild (NAQG) will demonstrate the art of quilting from 10 am to 4 pm in the Norman Public Library's Lowry Room. New this year is a Craft Book Swap and Shop.
The focus of this year's demonstration is a new view of your grandmother's quilts. Using patterns your grandmother would recognize, these modern quilts feature updated fabrics and bold color arrangements. Visit the library to see how the craft of quilting is being redesigned and updated. During the day, quilters from the NAQS will display the steps involved in making a quilts. Weaving, embroidery, knitting and crocheting will also be demonstrated.
The Friends of the Norman Libraries will offer craft books for purchase from 10 am to 2 pm. Swapping begins at 11 am. Bring a craft book and swap for a "new to you" book.
This program is free and open to the public. If you have ever wanted to make a quilt or faltered over that next step in the quilting process, this is your chance to watch and learn from your neighbors who are passionate about this traditional art.
Stop by the Norman Public Library Gallery Room during the month of March to view a display of NAQG quilts. These quilts will remain on display through the end of March.
