UPDATED APRIL 22, 2022: EVENT HAS MOVED FROM VETERANS PARK TO NEWCASTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY.

Celebrate the environment with us this Earth Day weekend and learn more about pollinators through an engaging conversation with Eileen Garvin on her book The Music of Bees followed by hands-on activities directed by Okies for Monarchs to learn ways you can protect pollinators at home!

This event will be held outdoors at Veterans Park in Newcastle. Feel free to bring a lawn chair or blanket! In case of inclement weather, this event will be held indoors in the Ballroom at the Newcastle Public Library.

Spark a Change conversations are part of our PLS Reads series. This year's topic is the environment and our exploration will be guided by 3 community reads:

  • The Music of Bees by Eileen Garvin,
  • Nature's Best Hope by Douglas Tallamy,
  • and Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver.

PLS will host a number of book discussions for each of these titles throughout the year. Check out our Events Calendar to learn more and register! Digital and physical copies of each title are available for check out through our PLS Connect app or by visiting any of our hometown branches.
