The Ukulele is becoming popular again. Learn what it's all about. From choosing the instrument to playing. Instructor and uke enthusiast Chris Davidson will present what you need to get started.
On most instruments one has to practice quite awhile before making decent sounds, but on a ukulele, with a little bit of knowledge (two chords) and a little practice, within a few minutes, you can start making pleasant sounds. Covered in this workshop: Purchasing a Ukulele including size and material, Tuning and playing, chords, and playing after you leave. Bring your ukulele, borrow one, or just come and learn. Registration encouraged.
The Ukulele is compatible with other instruments. One can play alone or along with other instruments on stage, in a jam, in an orchestra, or in a recording studio.
Among some rock guitarists who played the ukulele as children include Jimi Hendrix, Brian May (Queen), Pete Townsend (The Who), and surf-rocker Dick Dale. The Beatles enjoyed playing the ukulele, especially George Harrison. George would enter music stores, purchasing ukes to give away.
