“Jewish Martyrs”
Shmuel Shepkaru, Schusterman Professor of Jewish Intellectual and Religious History, History Dept., University of Oklahoma

Dr. Shepkaru’s talk will examine how the advent of Christianity both provided models of passive martyrdom to medieval Jews, and drove some of them to experience martyrdom when forced to choose between death and conversion.
