Jacob Lackner, Visiting Lecturer, History Dept., University of Oklahoma
The era of the Crusades (1095-1291) is often thought of as a time of violence and religious hatred between Muslims and Christians. However, when not fighting each other, Muslims and Christians were often actively trading with one another. Even during times of war, it was not uncommon for Christian states to ally themselves with one Muslim state while fighting against another one. Dr. Lackner’s talk will discuss these and other positive relationships between Muslims and Christians in the Holy Land.
