Cheese, glorious cheese! Join us for our Eat Smart Series as cheese expert Gersende Cazaux from Forward Foods will present a two-part series on “Understanding Cheese”.
Gersende Cazaux of Forward Foods will present Eat Smart: Understanding Cheese in a two-part series at Norman West Library, on Saturday, July 7th. The first class at 2pm will be an introduction on the benefits and misconceptions of cheese. She will feature the variety of cheese styles, milk types, and explain the different aspects of cheeses. The second class at 4pm offers participants a more detailed course on cheese and discussion of the specialty cheese makers
Gersende is a native of France and specializes in local foods. As a French woman, she has the love for cheese ingrained in her very being; she takes delight in having a bite of cheese followed by a sip of wine. After working for cheesemakers in France and Wales, she decided to expand her professional reach. In 2009 she chose to relocate to Wisconsin, where she led a project to market unpasteurized cheeses from Wisconsin through the local- based- marketing concept called Taste of Place (the American version of Terroir). Since then, she has been helping American and French artisanal cheesemakers to export and promote their products across Europe and America. Today, she is managing Forwards Food Cheese Shop in Norman, OK and organizes events around cheese and wine.
Gersende has a Master's Degree in Marketing Local Food and a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies. She lives in Norman, OK with her husband.
Class size is limited to 20 people. Please register in advance and for more information on this series, contact Norman Library West at 405-701-2644.
