2024 marks the 19th annual Crowns Tea, a community event inspired by the book "Crowns: Portraits of Black Women in Church Hats" by Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry.

The Crowns Tea emphasizes the rich traditions of literature, music, and culture in observance of Black History Month. This event is open to all ages and will include a reading from the book Crowns, a panel discussion of Black fashion, and food & tea. Attendees are invited to wear a hat in celebration, as there will be an opportunity to have portraits taken at the event.

This event is made possible by the Friends of the Norman Library and the Norman Arts Council.
